Family Visit!

I was lucky enough to have my family come to visit me on the week of March 14.I wasn't quite sure what time of day they'd be arriving so I got quite a surprise when I was attacked with hugs in Anna's room around mid-day. While they were in Leeds, I showed them around town a bit, showed them where I get food, where the clubs and bars are, as well as introduced them to my friends and flatmates. With them they brought me goodies from Canada- mainly Lays ketchup chips and Reese's peanut butter cups which I had been craving for months. One particularly good thing about the whole visit was that my sister stayed with me in my room in Leeds and got to hang out with my flatmates, and she even came along to a little bonfire party that a friend of mine had. The last night they had in Leeds we visited Harrogate, which is a pretty, posh town not too far from here, however, the car ride is always significantly longer when you haven't the slightest clue as to where you are going. On that note, my parents also had a tough time finding their hotel when I left them for the night since it is nearly impossible to navagate these one way streets. I had to enlist the help of Matty and Amy at one point, for which we were all very thankful!!

After then, we set off for Bristol, Bath (saw the Roman Baths!), the Stonehenge, and then London for a couple days, and I was so excited to finally get to see all the sights! The first day we spent there, we got off of the tube, and sporadically decided to buy one of those tour bus tickets for the day- it was a beautiful day and we had scored some discounts so it seemed like a good deal, especially when they mentioned that the ticket also included a boat ride down the Thames. In the couple days or so I spent in London we visited Big Ben, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, The London Eye (that huge wheel overlooking the city), the Marble Arch, Hyde Park, Harrolds, and Buckingham Palace (Brooke, you'll have to send me the rest of the pictures!). I have to say, we waited outside the palace for an hour to witness the world famous changing of the guards. Squished and claustraphobic the entire time, we managed to snap a few photos and videos of the half an hour long ceremony. The last day we spent there was also St. Patty's Day so we went to the bar for a pint or 2 to celebrate. The next day, I was off on a bus back to Leeds to begin my Morocco Hitch, and my parents would soon be onboard a plane back to Canada...

You know I did enjoy those quarrels as you so lightly put it... although, it was fun getting lost. You yelling at us, however, was not. Anyways, what happened to the Morocco Hitchhike posts you put up before? I saw two or something.

Later,
- Brooke

Psst, enjoy the "special surprise" that's coming your way!
